Bad Company, the White Stripes, Outkast, Cyndi Lauper, Soundgarden and more were officially inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday night. Here are some highlights:
Cyndi Lauper held a moment of silence during her performance to honor the LGBTQ community. She was also joined by Avril Lavigne, Salt-N-Pepa, and RAYE. Chappelle Roan inducted her. Speaking of Salt-N-Pepa, they went into the Rock Hall for “Musical Influence,” and actually brought up their lawsuit against Universal Music in their speech.
Soundgarden was inducted by Jim Carrey, who was friends with the late Chris Cornell. The rest of the band performed, with help from Brandi Carlile and Taylor Momsen. And Cornell’s daughter Toni did “Fell on Black Days“.
(Momsen and Jim Carrey, who starred together in the live action “Grinch” movie when she was a kid, reunited backstage.)
Jack White accepted the honor for the White Stripes, as Meg continued her 15-year streak of not being seen anywhere ever.
He did pay tribute to her, and named a ton of artists who influenced him, from Loretta Lynne to Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow to the Misfits. Olivia Rodrigo and Feist performed “We’re Going to Be Friends”, while Twenty One Pilots handled “Seven Nation Army”.
They were inducted by Iggy Pop, who not only wore a shirt, but a jacket on top of it. (!!!)
Andre 3000 and Big Boi both showed up for Outkast’s induction, but Andre did NOT perform. Big Boi was joined by Doja Cat, Janelle Monae, Tyler, the Creator, and others. They were inducted by Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover.
Bad Company was inducted by Mick Fleetwood. Paul Rodgerswasn’t able to attend, so he sent a video message. Drummer Simon Kirke performed alongside Bryan Adams, Nancy Wilson, Joe Perry, and Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes.
As expected, David Letterman inducted his friend Warren Zevon . . . who, like Salt-N-Pepa, was enshrined as a musical influence. Dave brought along a guitar Warren gave him before he died. The Killers used it for their performance of “Lawyers, Guns and Money”.
There were also tributes to Sly Stone and Brian Wilson, who both died this year.

Joe Cocker’s posthumous induction capped off the night . . . probably so the finale could be an all-star rendition of “With a Little Help from My Friends”.
