Olympics Highlights: The U.S. Added Nine More Medals


The U.S. snagged NINE more medals at the Tokyo Olympics, and four were gold.

Skeet shooters Amber English and Vincent Hancock won two of those golds . . . and the men’s swim team won the 4-by-100-meter freestyle relay.

Meanwhile, Katie Ledecky was hoping for gold in the women’s 400-meter freestyle, but had to settle for silver.  Ariarne Titmus of Australia beat her by less than a second.  But 17-year-old Lydia Jacoby won gold in the 100-meter breaststroke.  She’s the first ever Olympic swimmer from Alaska.

 

The U.S. is now tied with China in the overall medal count.  Here’s where things stand heading into today . . .

1.  USA:  19 . . . 8 gold, 3 silver, 8 bronze.

2.  China:  19 . . . 7 gold, 5 silver, 7 bronze.

3.  Russia:  15 . . . 5 gold, 7 silver, 3 bronze.

4.  Japan:  13 . . . 8 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze.

5.  Great Britain:  10 . . . 4 gold, 5 silver, 1 bronze.
