We said so long to February this weekend. Here are a few things to look forward to in March . . .
1. Daylight Saving Time starts this Sunday, March 8th. You’ll lose an hour of sleep, but it won’t get dark so early anymore. Then March 20th is the first day of spring.
2. In sports: The Paralympics get started this Friday. They run from the 6th through the 15th. But wheelchair curling starts a few days early on Wednesday. By mid-month, it’s March Madness time. Selection Sunday is the 15th. Then the men start on the 17th, and the women get started a day later. And the new Major League Baseball season starts a week after that. The Yankees and Giants kick things off on Netflix the night of the 25th. Other teams get started the 26th.
3. On TV: Conan O’Brien returns to host The Oscars on March 15th. Also, the final season of “Outlander” premieres this Friday on Starz . . . Steve Carell’s new HBO show “Rooster” lands on the 8th . . . “Yellowstone” spinoff “The Madison” with Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell hits Paramount+ the 14th . . . “The Bachelorette” returns the 22nd, along with Lisa Kudrow’s “The Comeback” after a 12-year hiatus . . . Disney+ has its “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” on the 24th . . . and the iHeartRadio Music Awards air on Fox March 26th.
4. In theaters: The new Pixar movie “Hoppers” opens this Friday . . . and Ryan Gosling tries to save Planet Earth in “Project Hail Mary” on March 20th.
5. And finally, the holidays: Purim starts tonight . . . International Women’s Day is March 8th . . . the 17th is St. Patrick’s Day . . . and Ramadan ends the night of the 18th. In lesser holidays: There’s also National Pancake Day tomorrow . . . National Cereal Day on the 7th . . . Pi Day on the 14th . . . National Puppy Day the 23rd . . . and the 27th is National VIAGRA Day.
